I think the approach to the gods in CR3 is very interesting. My theory is that they value the freewill of mortals over everything, even if it means people despising them (Ludinus) or being disappointed (Deanna).
They do this because the last time they interfered…the calamity occurred. It nearly destroyed the world and created the divine gate to protect mortals FROM them. For better or for worse, mortals need to be left to their own devices.
So they sit and watch, watching the wards around Ruidus slowly fade away. The Gods watch as their children destroy themselves, releasing a beast that will consume without restraint. The Gods know they have done this to themselves, but they wouldn’t change it.
They know what it would cost to touch down on Exandria again.
